The ozone layer isn't in very much danger of depletion these days, especially since the UN ban on chlorofluorcarbons (CFCs) in 1987. However, if something should happen to it, the surface of Earth would be subjected to more UV radiation, which causes sunburn, skin cancer, cataracts, damage human immune systems and may harm phytoplankton that are the base of the food chain in Antarctic seas. We don't know, but it is thought that increased UV radiation could also damage crops.
