How do i understand /read him ?

My bf disapeared 5 yrs ago after he proposed me .It was a long distance relationship.After 5 yrs he found me in FB and tried to rekindle the relationship.We met a couple of times every weekend when he drives to meet me.On the last weekend we met he proposed me again ..then he went back to his country which is neighbouring Emirates .Since then i tried calling him and texting no reply.I asked my cousin in s different country to try calling him cos i was worried .When she did he picked up the fon.How do i yse him ? we dint have a fight or anything .I promised never to call him again .It hurts soo much i gave him a second chance and seems like history is repeating itself.What should i do ? i dont feel comfortable to contact him .
